Finally getting a medical diagnosis of Fibromyalgia is sometimes a relief, after everything you have been through…

OR it can be an enormous shock as you then realise there is no ‘cure’ so you will be stuck with varying levels of pain, fatigue, brain fog and a whole host of other symptoms for the rest of your life or until science delivers the cure!


I wasn’t happy with being told, ‘There is no cure, you’ll just have to learn to live with it’. I’d hoped for a course of medication to fix me up so I could get on with my life. I was horrified that the best advice was to ‘learn how to pace yourself’… As if I didn’t have a professional career to keep up with and a toddler to look after and a house to run! I was far too young to feel that unwell and useless and I had far too much to do with my life to be stuck, entangled in that sticky cobweb!

We are told that the best medical advice is to ‘pace’ ourselves to conserve energy and prevent Flare Ups, but only someone living with and managing Fibromyalgia on a day to day basis can really understand the limitations and frustrations of the ‘pacing’ advice.

It’s not just about conserving physical energy so that you can do things when you have that physical energy. It’s about having the physical, mental and emotional energy all lined up at the same time when you need to complete your tasks. Even people without Fibromyalgia sometimes ‘don’t feel like’ doing the laundry or vacuuming or shopping or writing that difficult email ‘right now’! They can choose to do things on their ‘To Do’ lists when they feel like it. Yet as Fibromyalgia sufferers, we are expected to force ourselves to do those tasks that need mental and emotional energy as soon as we have some physical energy.

I was determined to find a solution for myself

I wasn’t going to accept ‘pacing’ as a way of life for the rest of my life. So I researched ways to improve my health and re-organise my life.

It took years, and lots of trial and error, and disappointments, wasted money, time and effort along the way and then I discovered how incredibly powerful hypnotherapy is I was really, really lucky with my trainers and mentors. The changes and improvements in your Quality of Life are very fast. The live sessions take around 1 hour each, we have 2 sessions each week. You should allocate at least 90 minutes per session so that you can write your notes and realisations immediately after each session. You will have a lot of personal revelations, ‘Aha’ moments and you will experience a lot of ideas for your future and you will want to make notes and remember them, because we will also discover how you can make them happen! Each session builds upon the previous one. You will practice the techniques and ideas from each session as you go through your week, before layering in the next step in the program. Pain is a warning signal, like a smoke alarm, that tells you that something is wrong

Once you have a diagnosis or treatment, you no longer need the alarm to keep signalling, but sometimes that alarm is faulty and becomes hypersensitive, as it tries to protect you. It cannot switch off completely (a bit like your stress reaction) and so it goes off at the slightest change in temperature, even if there is no smoke, just steam … and just like that, we can also become hypersensitive to the intensity of pain levels

It is long term and persistent


The fact that Fibromyalgia pain comes and goes and even changes location in your body, means it is not permanent or ‘acute’ pain. Therefore, we can access the subconscious and turn those sensations of pain down, safely. Your body will still be able to signal to you when new pain occurs and needs attention, we are not taking the batteries out of the smoke alarm, simply adjusting sensitivity. These clinical hypnotherapy sessions will calm and relieve your physical pain and anxiety, which will also help you to sleep better and will further improve your quality of life

Fibromyalgia affects everyone differently so during your private session we will soothe other symptoms that particularly affect you,

for example IBS, insomnia, or fatigue. Physical pain impacts all areas of our thinking, our choices and our thoughts about what we may or may not be able to manage to do in the future and the actions we take. So relieving physical pain is the logical first step


Anxiety makes us feel physically awful and clouds our thinking, judgement and affects the actions we take. The things we do and the things we say in a stressed or anxious state can have huge, lifelong repercussions. If we cannot think clearly, calmly, we cannot make good decisions. We end up in an emotional downward spiral of fear and dread and ultimately Fibromyalgia Flare Ups. So calming anxiety is equally as important in the very first stages of this program


Sleep is absolutely essential for human beings


We all need decent, uninterrupted REM sleep cycles every night. It is not clever, smart or effective to cut out sleep time to work longer hours – that will give you the burnout symptoms of Fibromyalgia! No matter what else is going on in your head and in your life, your time asleep is when your brain and body can at last have a chance to rest, digest and repair – like it is supposed to. If you keep waking up because of fear, anxiety or pain, your brain doesn’t get a chance to re-organise and sort out the problem. Better sleep is a natural by product of reduced pain and anxiety

Your subconscious is always protecting you, it is always on your side, keeping you alive. Sometimes, the way it protects you may NOT be the way you would consciously prefer it to protect you


It shows up as you being unable to stick to a diet (you have to eat to stay alive), or as feeling really anxious when there is something that scares you (it is supposed to be a helpful boost of excitement to get you through it), or giving you pain if you really don’t want to go somewhere (you can stay safe at home, protected, if you are ill)


Using hypnosis in coaching and training enables you to consider the changes you would like to make at a subconscious level, not just a conscious level. This means that you are aware of potential subconscious conflicts, such as any secondary gain that your subconscious may be holding on to, and future (subconscious) self-sabotage

Training sessions

I will show you multiple ways to relieve pain, anxiety, stress and overwhelm as you go about your day to day life. You practice these in your day to day life between our sessions. None of us know what will happen during the day to trigger our stress response and cause that cascade of uncomfortable stress hormones and neurotransmitters. Even smells can bring back memories! You will learn and practice ways to manage the chemicals and hormones that crash your physical and emotional strength. You will be well-practised and will know how, to re-set yourself back to being calm so that you can re-group, re-calibrate your emotional state, and carry on moving forwards with what you were doing,

Session 1

Learn how to manage the thoughts in your own head so that you can balance your feelings and remain calm, relaxed and in control of your emotional state so that you have more time to choose your responses to what is happening around you, at any moment, no matter what has triggered you.


Session 2

Session 3

Learn how to uncover and question your deepest, oldest subconscious beliefs (many from childhood). If they are not true, limit you, or are no longer in line with your current personal values at your current life stage, your subconscious will sabotage what you consciously say you want, because your subconscious will always prove itself right. Knock out old unhelpful beliefs and renew your values and beliefs for positive, life enhancing ones, so that everything is congruently lined up for you to move ahead with a new sense of purpose. Session 5

Learn how to enjoy a feeling of Genuine Confidence, all the time, in every situation. Confidence is simply a feeling that is created by our own thoughts in our own head. It is just as much a “Habit” as Anxiety. For Genuine, Calm, Reassured, Competent Confidence, you need two things. Firstly, a good level of self-esteem, so our thoughts aren’t telling ourselves we are rubbish along with all the reasons why! Secondly, a good understanding of how to do what you are about to do. This means taking the necessary amount of time to follow the learning curve for the project in hand. That’s it. This session will show you how to feel good about yourself and have Genuine Confidence – Despite Fibromyalgia.

FAQs

Will I lose control under Hypnosis?

Hypnosis is an “altered, relaxed, state of consciousness that is characterised by the bypassing of the critical faculties and increased susceptibility to suggestion”. When a person is under hypnosis, suggestions don’t pass through the critical faculties of normal consciousness. Instead, they enter the subconscious mind directly. Then, if these suggestions are accepted by the subconscious mind, the hypnotised person acts on them. However, the phrase “if these suggestions are accepted……” is key.  Hypnosis can not make you do anything that you do not want to do, or that is contrary to your moral or ethical values. You are in control at all times, you always know what is happening, and you can come out of the altered state at any time. Hypnosis will not make you unresponsive, lose your memory, lose control or reveal secrets. 

How effective is Hypnosis? 

Hypnotherapy is a highly effective, scientifically proven therapy, however, it also depends on your motivation and desire to change. You need to work alongside me and follow the full program of therapy, which includes practising the mindset exercises if you want to be able to continue to manage your physical reactions to stressful situations in the future. 

Cancellation Policy

My standard policy is that I require at least 48 hours notice of change to appointment time. If 24- 48 hours notice is given then 50% of the normal fee will be charged. If less than 24 hours notice is given then 100% of the normal fee will be charged. Having said that I recognise that challenging situations sometimes occur in life and my priority is always to treat people fairly and to try to re-arrange sessions. In the case of last minute cancellation or need to re-arrange, please call as soon as you can. Please do not book onto group programs if you will miss sessions. Recordings may not be available because of privacy and confidentiality.

What if I miss a group session?  

Each session builds upon the previous session and you need to practice the techniques I show you before the following session.  Please book a program you will be able to attend.  I cannot guarantee recordings of group sessions because of confidentiality.  The group program already includes one private session with me and I can run through the session you missed if that occurs before the private session has been taken. 

Is this a cure for Fibromyalgia?

No, at present there is no long term medical cure for Fibromyalgia.  I am not ‘removing’ Fibromyalgia, just as I cannot ‘re-grow’ a limb for my clients who have had life-changing accidents.  You will still have your diagnosis.  However, there are many ways to ease and soothe the collection of symptoms that together are called ‘Fibromyalgia’. I have gathered the techniques that have worked best to ease my own varied, fluctuating  symptoms of Fibromyalgia over the past 20 years and have created this program because there are so many people living alongside symptoms of Fibromyalgia.  Most of these people probably don’t’ have 20 years to try all the things I tried! 

How does the program work?

This program uses hypnotherapy relieve pain and soothe the symptoms of Fibromyalgia and anxiety. It then teaches you ways to calmly manage stress to reduce and prevent Flare Ups which will improve your Quality of Life in the long term. Once calm, and no longer distracted by pain, you can choose a new lifestyle that fits your life stage perfectly and I train you in ways to increase self-esteem, confidence, motivation and enthusiasm, so that you can enjoy living your Best Life. Why is controlling our reaction to stress and anxiety such an important part of this program? 

Everyone who has Fibromyalgia knows that a lot of extra stress and anxiety will lead to a Fibromyalgia Flare up – more pain and worse symptoms. The Flare doesn’t necessarily happen immediately but in a day or two when there is seemingly no connection.  That is why people say they will ‘pay for it later’. This program reduces pain and other symptoms of Fibromyalgia AND teaches you how to manage stress and anxiety so that you can reduce the frequency and severity of Fibromyalgia Flares in the future. 

Do you offer a payment plan?

I accept payments by PayPal because they offer a PayPal Credit facility that you can set up before you book in with me. 

Can you help me stop smoking?

No, I don’t specialise in that area. I have a colleague I recommend who has an excellent track record for smoking cessation.  I regularly recommend people to colleagues who specialise in other areas of hypnotherapy.  

Frequently Asked Questions For Stephanie 

Is Stephanie ‘cured’? 

No, not from everything but I have other diagnoses as well as Fibromyalgia. 

Did these therapies enable Stephanie to get her life back on track without pain and brain fog?     

Yes.

Does Stephanie still need to use these techniques on a daily basis?    

Sometimes, yes, that’s the whole point of the program.  If I hear or see something that triggers my brain into starting my autonomic nervous system’s stress reaction, I need to calm it down by using these techniques.  None of us know what we will see and hear each day that will trigger us.

Does Stephanie still have hypnotherapy sessions?  

YES, I have excellent colleagues who help me sometimes.  I recommend them to clients who ask for help with issues I do not work with, like smoking cessation, weight loss, phobias etc.
